the lady speaking is completely wrong. Of course you can wear sari’s if your not married. I am 15, and I live in America, and we go to indian weddings all the time, and everyone wears saris, not matter what their age is. Wearing a sari is the biggest fashion statement one can make when worn correctly. And they aren’t called half saris, they are called Salwars.
