Hey my daughter is 2 months and will not have much to do with toys yet… shes just starting to be interested by a rattle I have on her car seat…. around 1 month she starting liking to watch the flashing musical star on her floor gym thing, Its the baby einstein gym. she loves that star! other than that…. she likes her swing and to be held :)
—and yeah she always stares at the window/lights(Especially fluorescent lights!) and… the wall!?

Yes any black and white objects are good. They concentrate on those the best. Most babies want to see their Mommy and Daddy too. The best toys are you!!

lots of things they can look at.

black & white pics / mobiles, or brightly colored ones
    my baby loves windchimes too
lights & windows are great as well

but the best "toy" is mommy & daddy (& other people) talking to them.

newborns are hard to get toys for you could try black and white mobiles but my 7 month old never liked black and white she loved lights and music and anything bright.
