Every baby is different, if he is wanting it then you can give it to him, if your worried about how much he eats because u know of other babies that eat less don’t be, babies will tell you how much and when they want it, remember he is growning fast, so he will decide how much he needs!
1 or 2..
try 2 make as much as home made food as possible, its healthier n nutritious..
jars always hav preservatives n added sugar.
There really is no set amount. Just like adults some children eat more than other children.
At 6 mos he should just be starting solids now, so one jar or less.
Don’t worry so much about how much he should be eating, rather use his hunger cues to tell you how much. On average, I think that he would eat 2-3 jars of stage 2 foods a day, depending on how often during the day you give it to him. Just watch him when you feed him and he’ll tell you if he is still hungry or not.
No more than two tablespoons once a day at most.

Babyfood is for fun, breastmilk/formula is for nutrition. Do not let solids interfere with the amount of breastmilk/formula your baby consumes. Also 6 month olds may still have trouble indicating that they do not want more and you do not want to encourage your baby to over eat.
Personally I think child-led introduction to solids is best as it lets your baby and your baby’s development control their intake.

My 6 month old usually eats cereal and fruit/veggies 3 times per day. He actually prefers to eat than drink a bottle. So, sometimes he eats up to two jars of food at a sitting if we don’t give him cereal with it.
ask his pediatrician. every child is different.
I found sites like this helpful.

Oh, my, gosh.
People kill me. I couldn’t even read the rest of these answers.
Your baby will eat AS much as he needs. Babys will NOT overeat and you shouldn’t look at these "rules". Your doctor will tell you, every baby is DIFFERENT. My first son was at 4 jars a day with some talbe food. My second son started jar food at 3 months. So by six months he was taking ALL of his formula plus 6 jars of #2 food a day. My sisters son ate even more than that. Now, given, some may only eat 2 a day. Your baby will let you know when he’s had enough. But if you go by "oh, just two tablespoons" or just 2 jars, well, how do you know that your baby is getting enough? You don’t. Check with your ped doc. And just follow your babys signs. but again, you CAN"T overfeed. Your baby might be a baby, but he knows when he’s had enough. But if he is eating a lot, and has even tried 3rd foods, you could try some table food IF he is ready. Happy Feeding!!
When you first introduce solids at 6mths, it typically is just a few bites at first… it’s more for the practice than for a ‘meal’. Over time (at least a few wks) you can move up to a full jar of baby food at a sitting. I found lunch time the best part of the day for my girl, as she was the hungriest around then. So I would say 1 jar or less at 6mths. A lot of parents push too hard on baby food, when breastmilk/formula should remain the main source of food for your baby until at least 9mths. From 9mths it should still remain at least half of their daily intake, but solids become more and more important. Take your time, and introduce new food slowly.
Additional note: Uh, YES, babies can overeat. There are a number of OBESE babies that will become OBESE adults due to overeating. There are a lot of studies out there – particularly important now that over 1/4 of children and adults are obese. We arent talking pudgy, with a little extra baby fat, we are talking obesity here. Giving your baby as much as they will take is not a good idea, and can set them up for obesity later in life.
As much as he’s hungry for. He’ll let you know by either gobbling it up, or just goofing around with it.
1 jar in my opinion. If your baby is taking formula maybe less, or nursing maybe more, but your baby’s main source of food should still be breastmilk or formula. (Otherwise baby isn’t getting all the nutrients he or she needs. Especially iron and the fatty acids in milk that helps develop a babies brain)
Try making home made food for him. Like one day put only a small piece of chicken, 1/2 carrot and 1/2 zuchini and 1/2potato, and grate a tomato, chop up 1/2 an onion w/ 1/2 clove of garlic(for taste) + it’s good for them to taste. Add little pepper & salt. Boil all together and at the end before you put in blender, add like a tsp. of olive oil. You’ll have enough there for 2 servings.
You can do that and add whichever veggies you have and are in season. Sometimes I would put broccolli or spinach. You can do that w/ beef, and lamb. Really good for them.
I hope this helped. I live in Europe so I don’t know what your pediatrician has suggested to you.
Be blessed!
Wow… that was quite comprehensive
