Does that eventually affect her IQ?

    7. SmartHandsCA says

      October 8, 2010 at 9:58

@Ice2watcher yes, they say it does. Studies have show that because they are able to use meaningful language at an early age that they use more ‘brain power’ when they get older. My daughter is in kindergarten and reads at a grade three level. But that’s not why I taught her, I taught her to help reduce her frustration before she was able to talk :)

@ubergeraldine There is nothing wrong with using words. I use words with her but most babies don’t talk at 8 months. this is a good bridge before they can talk. When you sign with your baby you do both (sign and speak)

@MRSgermancutey Thanks :) I started when she was 4 months.

Since my son was about nine months iv been signing to him as well and he knows alot of the basics and this video just goes to show that it does work and they do catch on its all in how much you work with them and have patience with them eventually they start to sign back and its not hard at all. :)

Signing with your child is only gonna affect her in a positive way if anything she will have a higher IQ knowing what she or he wants at such a young age and being capable of telling you :)

I feel really identificated with this video, mi parents are deaf and when i was a baby they teached me signing. I know that this is not the same situation.

I will teach my kids in signing so they could comunicate with me and my mum and dad easier.
She’s really really cute and smart. I would be so proud of her.

Sorry of my poor english :(

My son is 5 months old and I’d love to try signing with him – is he too young? And how long does it take from when you start? Also – do you just do the signs when you say the words in everyday speech and activities?

@Kapenta87 5 months is a great time to start. If you click on my channel name it will take you to my channel page where there is a link to an article I wrote on how to sign with your baby.
