My boyfriend and I would like to buy some things for our baby girl but we know not to buy to much because we don’t want to get the same thing someone else got for us. I am due January 13th. our baby shower is November 7th. my step mom is the one who suggested the baby shower should be in november because then i would be 7 months pregnant. I talked to my older sister and both of us agree that we shud of had it in october none the latest but they insist we have it in november. im just saying i don’t think its fair that we have to wait til 1 1/2 months for it and we would like to do our own shopping to because we are very excited but like i said we don’t want to buy something someone is going to get us.
So far we did buy her a piggy bank and we got some blankets from a friend and i got her, her baby book. Could there possibly be anything else we can buy for her?

I know when I had my baby shower with my daughter I got a lot of stuff that wasn’t really practical….I got a ton of cute outfits and some dolls and memory books stuff like that after all was said and done I still had to buy receiving blankets, sleepers, washcloth,s bottle stuff, breast feeding stuff….everything that would be of any use….worse case scenario you get doubles most people will keep the receipt with the gift so you could always exchange it for something that you need, have fun shopping!

dont have such high expectations for the baby shower. its not up to family and friends to get all ur baby things…
buy everything you want and need for her…. and if you get one thing u already have then owell
people mostly buy baby gift packs anyway…. jumpsuits, powders, facewashers and small toys.

most people bring shampoo, baby powder, clothes and blankets… Most likely you will need to buy your own stroller, car seat, and bathtub

Are you throwing yourself a baby shower?
Baby showers are supposed to be a surprise sometimes during your 8th/early 9th month.
You seem to be complaining because people are going to purchase gifts for you and your child.
You aren’t due until next year, chill out.
Are you going to be one of those Moms trying to make the doctor induce you at 36 weeks?
Seriously stop bitching.
You’re not even in your 3rd trimester yet.

Aside from all the obviously necessary baby stuff these are a few things that my hubby and I didn’t have from day one but would have been helpful… Temperature thermometer, Bath thermometer, bouncinet, dummy (pacifier) , one of those electric swing things! (that was a life saver!) Can’t think of anything else right now.

Unless your friends and family are all rich and generous it is safe to buy all of the big stuff now. Crib, car seat, stroller, high chair, swing, etc, can all be bought now. Even if your guests are all rich if you buy the big stuff yourself now, if its not on your registry you won’t end up with a 2nd crib!
Assume your shower gifts will be a lot of small stuff… blankets, clothes, diapers, towels, toiletries, toys, etc.

Well I know what you shouldn’t buy ahead: diapers or a lot of clothing because you could end up like me and buy newborn sized diapers and clothing for a baby that was already too big for them when he was born!
You will always need blankets, which you already have. You can go ahead and make a registry for the smaller ticket items and then purchase the bigger items like crib, high chair, car seat, etc.

If you can afford it, buy a breast pump. Whether you are planning on breast feeding or not, you can pump so that your baby can still get your milk and so that daddy can have that time with your little one. I planned on breast feeding my son but he didn’t get much from me. I bought a pump and was able to express some but my body to cooperate much after that.
