Would you take a baby to the mountains for a wedding?

March 20, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

My husband and I are planning a renewal of vows in the mountains, during the summer time. The ceremony is during the day. By that time this baby, I am pregnant with, will be over a year old. Would you take a baby to the mountains for a wedding? Let me know your thoughts. Please be tactful. Thanks.
There won’t be anyone else in attendance. We are planning to take a pack and play for the baby to be in while the ceremony is taking place.
No reception. Just a really nice dinner at a 5 star restaurant with the kids afterwards.

Sure. We just took our one year old to a cabin on an island, accessible only by boat and very rustic. Bug spray, sun screen, but I don’t see why a baby couldn’t go to the mountains.

I don’t see why not. I raised my baby in the mountains. Beautiful weather, fresh air. Great for kids.

I would, i don’t see the big deal. If it is hot then have what you will need for that time if it is colder then bring what you will need at that time. I went camping with my 10 month old.

As long as you dress the baby appropriately I don’t see a problem with it. The baby will be a year old and will be entertained by what he or she sees. Make sure to bring along toys that he or she likes to keep her entertained. Other than that have fun and goodluck.

If the babys grandparents are not coming to the wedding, by all means
leave him with them. You did not mention if it is going to be a large
gathering or just the two of you, because if you still decide on bringing
the baby , perhaps you can leave it with a relative , The baby would
be too young to remember and at 1 year would be a handful for you
to handle besides focusing on your vow renewal.

It will work out if you have a strong support person to care for your baby while you are having your ceremony and or reception. Make sure your baby feels comfortable to be with that person from an early age so when the day comes he/she will not feel stressed about not being with you.

If baby is in good health, I would definitely take him/her to the mountains.
I grew up in Northern Utah and LOVE the mountains. All of my cousins take their kids out (Even when they were baby’s). Just make sure you can keep him/her cool if it gets too hot. Bring lots of wipes, you can wipe his/her head to cool him/her off, maybe a spray bottle to mist the baby. And I recommend a sling carrier, that’s what all my cousins used.

Congrats on your baby and the renewing of your vows.

I don’t see any problem with it. I mean it’s not like you will be hunting or climbing huge mountain tops right?

I took my 5 weeks old baby camping in a tent outsidfe an hour away from anyone and he was happy.. LOL he was a happy camper that is. Just kept him warm lots of swaddler blankets shoved into a sleep sack and socks on hands and hats! And at one year old my niece had been camping at least 10 times!
Infact taking your litle boy or girl to the mountains is a good Idea, he or she will love to see the new sights! And will have a complete blast!

I am a little confused by the question. Why would you not bring the baby to the mountains? Are you worried about the altitude, the seclusion… what? I don’t see anything wrong with it. I’m sure the baby would be fine. And you certainly want your newest family member there if you are renewing your vows. I am a little confused as to whether you plan on going to the mountains and renewing your vows regardless and are just trying to decide whether to leave the baby at home with a babysitter or if you would change the location to suit the baby. Could you please clarify the question.

The baby could get a little cranky. I don’t see any reason to not bring it, but what about bringing a relative or babysitter to make sure the baby’s needs are met, so that you and your husband can focus on each other that day?
