Great job man!!! What type of thread did you use for the french seaming (the red thread)? Also, it that leather or vinyl that you used?

@iosdugh
That’s a Brother CS6000i.

What type of sewing machine and Needle did you use? Curious if you had any trouble pushing through the leather? Were you able to use a thick enough thread that will last? Thanks in advance.

good job! thumbs up. and good to see the kids helping out too! lol

HOW DID YOU DO THIS :D I wanna do it to my Grand prix
billfishoc says
You did a great job!!! You are inspiring us to replace our worn out leather seats!
I see what a wonderful job you did using a home sewing machine sewing leather. You must have been very careful not to break needles and get the leather to feed properly through the machine without getting skipped stitches. Most auto upholstery shops use a machine with a walking foot w/ needle feed or compound feed setup.
Please tell us what size needle and thread size you are using, that would be very helpful

I see a lot of people asking about the needles but no answers. What type of needles do you need? I just bought an average sewing machine like you see at walmart, does it matter what type of sewing machine you use? This is such a cool ideal. Props dude.
mrjavza says
@confinedbeauty i’m sorry you are nnot the first one to ask the same question about these needles. i finaly have an industrial sewing machine so i had to look for the needles i was using in this video. OK
the needles are SINGER 90/14 these also fit my brothers machine and the THREAD i was using is COATS & CLARK Art. S950 . I HOPE THAT HELPS. GOOD LUCK :)

Where did you learn to do this? DO you simply mimic the stock covers or what?
TVDUDE33 says
i want to do that to my rodeos seats
trosslv says
Excellent job! I want to reupholster my Cessna airplane seats in leather. I want to make the seats more fitted, like the auto seats that you did. I bought a Necchi sewing machine on eBay, but would like to get a better walking foot machine. I’ll keep searching for how-tos on Youtube until I get a plan completed. Great job! I hope mine turn out as well.

What kind of fabric am I supposed to get? Will a local fabric shop or a walmart supply it?
TheUpholstery1 says
@mrjavza You’ve done a real good job. Make sure you use a UVR thread so it won’t rot on you as time goes on. Use the size #92 verses a #69 twist, you will have better results. What you will learn as you approach more projects. When you’re working with vinyls, there will be times you’ll need to put your material on the bias to avoid any wrinkles. If you need any suggestions, give me a shout. I have a automotive trim shop and have been in business over 30 years.

did you read any books on this or take a course?! or was is purely DIY!? Great job btw. I want to learn to do this for my eagle talon.
