convertible seats allow rearfacing up to 30-35lbs… and the american academy of pediatrics says to rearface to the max allowed of the convertible carseat (the seat you buy after the infant seat.

You are informing incorrectly babies need to be rear facing until they are 1 year of age. It doesn’t go by weight. LIke the person above me said if your baby is under a year and over 20 lbs he still needs to be in a rear facing seat.

eyeslikethesky5391 is correct. It is against the law in all the states to turn a child under a year old forward facing. However most children outgrow those infant carrier seats before they are a year and need to move to a rear facing convertable until at a minimum their first birthday. Of course, the longer the better, it is safer!
