I really hope to adopt a baby when i’m in my 20’s. I’m 15 right now. I’ve been buying little things, like pacifiers, blankets, and bottles. Am i crazy for wanting to be prepared when I won’t be able to adopt for at least 10 more years? thank you

Let me start off by saying that I do NOT expect anyone to throw me a baby shower, and I won’t mind if I don’t have one.
I’m 31w4d pregnant and keep getting scolded by people (especially my mother-in-law) for buying baby things and setting up the nursery. She says my husband and I should hold off on buying anything for the baby until after my baby shower. The thing is, no one has mentioned being interested in throwing me one, and I’m due in about a month and a half. Should I hold off like I’m being told, or do you think it’s okay for me to buy the things I need? I’ve held off on buying many clothes, blankets, books, crib bedding and toys thinking those are the things most people would like to buy if they DO want to get something, but I don’t want to hold off on buying anything and then not have a baby shower and feel rushed to buy everything I need just before the baby is born. We already have all the furniture, and lots of used clothes that were given to us by friends, as well as a car seat and two strollers.
What you you think I should do?
Thanks for reading and answering!

Hi! I am due March 15th, (the Ides of March!) and I’m wondering what do I buy? I live in Chicago, so sometimes it is tricky weather, so do I invest in one of those sleeping bag things? Should I get a snowsuit jacket? How many bodies should I buy? Should the be long or short sleeved? How many blankets, what kind? Should I always dress him in pj’s? I am kinda lost on what the essentials are, being that this is my first so any advice would be great!

I went to buy baby items today this being the first time shopping for anything because we just found out it’s a girl. I became so overwhelmed with what we will need and not need or maybe need..? We ended up buying a baby tub, baby clothes, receiving blankets, a bottle warmer, and a baby book because we were not sure what all is needed.. so confused theres just so many things it seems we need.
I am 18 wks now. Please help.. what are items I need to get now before baby (please list Everything you can think of) and what are items we wont need to a few months or so after baby is born? (All as assuming I wasn’t getting anything from family)
Thanks so much! I appreciate it!

My friend of many years is having a baby girl here in about 2-3 weeks. They are having a shower tomorrow and I still need a gift for them. I know everyone will be getting them bottle warmers and blankets, etc. I have always heard the the most expensive items have always been diapers because of how often you have to buy them, so I wanted to get them a couple cases of diapers. However, i don’t know what size to buy them because I’ve never had a kid and its been a while since anyone I know did either. The baby would be born in about 2-3 weeks and there are so many sizes of diapers. Do I get them small sizes or average ones? Does the weight on the front of boxes really matter? How long does it take before a baby is 15lbs or more? Any advice is much appreciated.
