The behavior of children – Keys to Stop Misbehavior

January 9, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

The behavior of children can seem mysterious at times, but it’s all natural on the developmental road

Many parents, especially when they have two or more, are absolutely mystified at time over the behavior of children. Why does Johnny seem to have a penchant for throwing toys at his older sister? What do you do? Why does a child act up at home, but conduct himself perfectly in the school room setting? Why, when you keep your home neat as a pin, does a child keep his room in such disarray, you can hardly keep up with the mess?

All of these everyday examples of typical behavior of children can be perplexing indeed. Multiple children, each exhibiting behaviors you’d rather not contend with, can have you taking a time out just to keep your temper and sanity intact. Rather than just ignoring it – as best you can, appropriate to the particular behavior – or going in for spanking as the standard consequence, let’s take a look at ways to deal with the problem.

We’ve all heard of the ‘terrible twos’ that stage in a child’s life when they rebel against everything and indulge in frequent temper tantrums. This stage of behavior in children has an official name. You expect it. You can talk to your doctor or other Moms for advice on navigating this stage of development. However, after this point, children are beginning to develop complexity and individuality in their personalities, which makes your analysis tremendously more difficult. You may even fear bringing issues up with friends or your physician, believing it must be either something you’re doing wrong, or evidence of some mental disorder in your child. for more info about this key to stop misbehavior please Click Here!

Need help – Dealing with Paranoia.

January 8, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

From: (Bianca Miciano)

The moment your child is born, you could immediately become a nervous wreck. You could see dangers lurking almost everywhere. You may have baby-proofed everything at your house, but you still feel as if there are things you can still do, changes you can still make. You constantly have to keep an eye on your little one, check on his breathing every so often. But despite your chronic freak-outs, your child is growing up perfectly healthy and normal. You may go totally nuts, especially with your firstborn. But how can you tell if you’re simply feeling new mom jitters or something more exhausting: a crippling, pointless paranoia. Is it possible to be too protective?

Well, you’re paranoid if you keep your healthy infant isolated well past the first couple of weeks and wish you could ask visitors to wear masks and gloves when they hold your baby. Know that for the first few months, your antibodies, which were transmitted through the umbilical cord, give your newborn some protection and breastfeeding also boosts his immune system. Still, you can’t protect your child from every bug. You can expect your infant to get one or two bouts of sniffles in his first year.

What strategies can you employ? For starters, don’t let sick people hold your baby. Ask friends and their kids who are fighting a form of illness not to stop by first until they’re well. Fresh air is good for healthy, full-term babies, so get outside. Just avoid crowded indoor places such as the malls and airports. And what about the obsession with anti-bacterial sanitizers? There is debate in the medical community about whether hyper-hygiene leads to allergies and asthma, because if your baby isn’t exposed to germs his immune system won’t get enough practice fighting them. Since there’s no consensus at this point in time, it helps to take the middle-of-the-road approach. Wash your hands with soap and water when appropriate and have everyone else who handles your baby do the same thing as well.

Then, there are those who are so terrified he’ll stop breathing that you can’t stop checking every so often. Yes, a number of babies die of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), but the number isn’t one to be scared of. There’s actually a lot you can do to cut down on your baby’s risks of dying. The biggest cause of which is re-breathing exhaled air, which doesn’t have enough oxygen in it. Babies on their tummies can’t move their head as well and have therefore trouble getting enough fresh air. Also try putting your baby to bed in a safe crib: a mattress, a fitted sheet, and not much of anything else. Giving your baby a pacifier when he goes to sleep will significantly reduce his risks, even when it falls out of his mouth the moment he dozes off to dreamland. Don’t allow your infant to become overheated, which leads to a deeper sleep. And don’t let anyone smoke in your house because this can double his risk of SIDS.

How to – Fight against Meningitis

January 7, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

From: (Bianca Miciano)

Don’t wait to vaccinate your child against meningitis. You have heard of this term many times in the past, but do you really want to know what it is? Basically, this is the inflammation of the meninges, the lining around the brain and spinal cord. This is usually caused by viral or bacterial infection. Viral meningitis is relatively more common and less serious. The bacterial kind, on the other hand, can actually lead to brain damage and death if not treated immediately.

Meningitis, whether viral or bacterial, is spread through droplets from a sneeze or a cough coming from an infected person. When these droplets are breathed in by other people, they may go on to develop into something a whole lot deadlier. It is best that you know the symptoms so that you are able to protect your baby at all costs. First of all, the disease may show flu-like symptoms. Aside from these, other signs include:

– Fever of extremely low body temperature
– Loss of interest in food
– Drowsiness and lethargy
– Irritability and fretting
– Red or purple rash on the skin
– Becoming floppy or unusually stiff
– Irregular or labored breathing
– Sensitivity to light

Vaccination can protect your baby because the pneumococcal vaccine is extremely effective. It is now important for children under two years of age to get the shot. Moreover, good hygiene is also important to avoid infection. Wash your baby’s hands thoroughly and frequently. Do the same for yourself because you will be holding his food during feeding time. Make sure your hands are clean as well whenever you use the bathroom.

Because bacterial meningitis can lead to death within hours, it is vital to seek urgent medical attention if you suspect that your child has it. Only a doctor can find out the type and give immediate treatment with antibiotics if it is bacterial in origin. Viral meningitis is rarely fatal, but it can be debilitating. Some children only feel the symptoms for up to 10 days. Others, on the other hand, experience them for three to four months, which can lead to hospitalization.

Sadly, there is no specific treatment for viral meningitis just yet. Doctors recommend a lot of home treatment. This involves rest and good nursing care that includes providing lots of fluids to drink and giving medicine for the fever and pain. As a parent, you need to give your baby the best shot at life. Protect him from whatever could put a risk to his life. You need to make sure that your baby grows up to be strong and healthy. A lot of work may be required of you, but you know that all these pay off in the end. Be careful and talk to your doctor about the right time to go for the vaccination. Your pediatrician knows how to care for your baby even better than you do. So, put your trust in him and never hesitate to ask questions should you ever have doubts. Make your doctor your best friend, and your angel should be safe and sound.

Lear how Making Your Drive Smoother and More Pleasant & baby

January 7, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

From: (Bianca Miciano)

Having your baby inside your car means that you are now in charge of another life while you sit behind the wheel. This thought can be stressful because it’s hard to concentrate on the road ahead when you know someone behind is also in need of your attention. While it’s easy to break down and cry, you have to keep in mind that you’re the adult here. If you need to attend to your baby, then park your car at the side of the road and do what you have to do. All throughout the drive make sure to follow road rules and regulations.

Moreover, be conscious of your and your child’s safety when faced with aggressive drivers. Never lose your temper and do not challenge them by speeding up. Don’t even attempt to block them. Provoking attention by prolonged honking of the car horn or shouting at the other driver sets you and your child at risk. You stand nothing to gain with the trivial road altercations because you are with a child. Parents cannot be the angry driver who just can’t give in. The best move is to avoid eye contact, ignore rude gestures, and drive away calmly. You have to be the bigger person at all times.

A busy day at work can drain the energy out of your body. You know that you need to stay awake, but it seems as if your eyelids have a mind of their own. Fatigue can increase the risk of accidents just as drastically as drunk driving. If you feel yourself nodding off, pull over at a safe place and pace around for a few minutes until you feel rejuvenated. Drinking some cold water or hot coffee may help keep you up. To avoid these scary situations, make sure you get enough shuteye before you go on a trip with your precious cargo.

It also helps if you get to know your car. Be familiar with the switches, door locks, and controls. Read the car manual or seek the help of an expert mechanic to explain everything you still don’t know about your automobile, including how to change a flat or a dead battery. This information will be crucial for you in keeping safe during emergencies.

Also try to make the ride for your baby as comfortable as possible so that you won’t have to pull over and attend to him often. Have his water and milk bottle within reach so that you can easily reach for it when he gets thirsty. It also helps to have a good CD or a playlist on your MP3 player at hand. You may get sick and tired of those songs after hearing them hundreds of times, but your child will be too busy listening to the songs to feel restless.

When it comes to riding with your little one inside the car, preparation is of utmost importance. Take time to plan things because these little things may save the life of your child. Plus, it makes the whole experience more pleasant for you.

Review part two Getting Pregnant.

January 4, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

Being a health writer, I review a lot of eBooks over getting pregnant. It seems to be one of the most popular subjects that I come across when it comes to women’s health. It also seems to be the subject that I find the most badly written eBooks about. In fact, daily, I am amazed at some of the different eBooks that I see that swear by some special herb or position to help someone get pregnant. So, normally, when I get the chance to review some of these books, I jump on them to give them a review and a rating to help potential buyers out there know which ones are good – and which are bad.

The Getting Pregnant Bible came across my radar just a week ago. I couldn’t wait to review it and see what this book promised. I got a copy and downloaded it to my laptop so I could read it when I was out of town. First of all, let me tell you ladies, this eBook is long – like 108 pages long. That kind of amazed me, as they aren’t pages filled with position diagrams or pictures and such, they are actually pages filled with information. I very rarely see eBooks that are not full of fluff. This actually started to change my mind a bit about the book itself.

When I got the chance to sit down and start to read the book, my first impression was pretty good. At the very beginning of the eBook, the writer states very clearly that there are no promises or guarantees or miracles in this book and that everyone is different. (You would be amazed to learn that this is the only eBook I’ve reviewed that says this.) While there are some things here in this eBook that you can find on the web, such as the chapter on charting your ovulation, there are several others that you can’t find very detailed information about without searching throughout the web and tons of different sites, such as the fertility information and how depression affects a woman’s fertility.
There are several different chapters in the Getting Pregnant Bible that offer answers to questions that women have about getting pregnant, myths about getting pregnant, fertility questions, and more. I am impressed that the author went to such lengths to provide truthful information about getting pregnant as well as answer some of the questions that women have.

Now, there are some areas of the book that are not quite as good as they could be. First, is the length? While this is both a good and bad point, there are some areas that can be condensed for a shorter read. Second, I found some errors in the book when it comes to page numbers being off for the chapters in the Table of Contents. While this is not a big deal, it’s really just an inconvenience and not a big deal. Third, the Signs and Symptoms of pregnancy could be a little longer to include some of the odder symptoms that women are starting to experience and worry that they aren’t normal.

Overall, though, I give the Getting Pregnant Bible a solid 8.5 out of 10 rating as the book itself is well written and well put together. I would recommend this eBook to any woman who is considering getting pregnant. Click Here!
