Solid Foods and Your Infant tips, advice, help and learn???????

December 18, 2010 By Pilar Estefana

Every parent wants what’s best for their children. Unfortunately, some of them grow up with proper

eating habits. As much as the moms insist on making they eat fruits and vegetables, some of them
refuse to listen. So what must be done about this? First, you should know that good nutrition comes
from the very first day they were conceived. If you really want them exposed to healthy foods, you also
have to be a great example.

Many times, parents underestimate just how much they can influence their babies. Given the proper
diet, a child will grow up with a well developed immune system. It is with hope that this article
convinces everyone who reads it to make sure that they give nothing but the best to their children.
When it comes to diet, the first few months may be the easiest. After all, you only need to worry about
the kind of milk you give them. But once they reach four to six months, the babies need to be
introduced to solid foods. Now this is when you really have to be careful. Doctors say that solid meals
can only be introduced later so that you reduce their chances of developing allergies. Moreover, the
child’s digestive system is not equipped to do that much work.

There’s a wealth of information available about how to introduce solid meals to your babies. In fact,
some new moms and dads get overwhelmed with the details they collect. You first have to consider your
baby before anything else. When they are able to hold themselves upright and move their heads freely,
this is an indicator that now is the right time to change their diets. And unlike adults, the transition has
to be gradual so that the child can first get accustomed to the new texture in their mouth. It may be
uncomfortable for some at the beginning but they will get used to it. By including them in your meals,
you will be able to naturally spark their curiosity. The problem is, some mothers baby their children too
much.

The bits and pieces of food you will introduce set their eating habits for when they grow up. Just
remember not to overwhelm their taste buds. Make the introduction more gradual. Three to five days
per item is best so that you also get to learn which meals they take to the best. This can also be the time
when you’ll be able to discover if they are allergic to anything. Rice cereals are often the first to be
introduced. As soon as they’ve adjusted to the change, it is better that you expose them to vegetables
and proteins. Because infants are very sensitive, make sure that the food is free from spices and
additives. The baby needs to taste the only food. Adding ingredients can make them extremely picky in
the years to come.

Introducing solid foods can be such a rewarding experience, especially when you see your child enjoying
every moment. Make them part of your family meals and let them see how you too can enjoy eating
healthy foods. When it comes to sweets and junks, you can pretty much hold these off until they are
way older. If they seen to be aversive to particular items, try to make the experience more fun by
introducing a game that they will really enjoy. Bottom-line is, you also have to be a great role model.
Otherwise, the child can simply ignore your pleas.

Proper Storage of Baby Bottles and much more.

December 16, 2010 By Pilar Estefana

You always want to give your baby the best of everything. If you can only protect them from getting sick,

you will do it without batting an eyelash. There’s no argument that breast milk makes the most ideal
form of nourishment. When you aren’t home, you want to properly store your milk for the next time
your baby gets hungry. When choosing a baby bottle to store milk in, you have to consider the bottles
capacity. You also have to think about whether you buy permanent bottles or disposable ones.

In the end, the choice is entirely yours. You just have to know what to look for when buying a bottle.
One important consideration is its anti-gas properties. What this does is prevent your child from sucking
in too much air while he drinks his milk. If they become gassy, they will experience discomfort,
    oftentimes from stomach cramps.

Normally, when breastfeeding your child, you should sit close to what should be an upright position. You
only have to slightly lean backwards to give your baby better access. What this does is decrease the
chance of them swallowing air while they drink their milk. Additionally, you will most likely be
comfortable in this position because you are able to hold your child firmly and see them better.
When you are out, your milk should always be stored in plastic containers. There is less risk spoilage
when compared to glass containers. The last thing you want to do is destroy your antibodies and the
other essential vitamins and nutrients found in your nourishment. There are also plastic bags sold in
several stores that were especially designed for storing milk. Also make sure that you have the means to
properly store and wash the bottles after every use. They should be properly sanitized at all times
before giving them to your young one.

If you plan on freezing your milk, make sure that you know the date. Write it down on every container
and don’t serve it when it has been stored too long because the bacteria can grow and contaminate it.
Feeding your baby with spoilt milk may cause infection and illness. If your freezer has a defrost feature,
you will need to monitor this so that you can get rid of the milk once it stays inside the fridge during the
cycle. When filling these containers up, don’t fill it to the brim. Liquids tend to expand when frozen.
Ideally, these should only be three-quarters full. If you forget and put too much, these containers will
burst. Then, make sure you seal them well. Before you put it in the fridge, cool the milk first before
    storing.

Milk lasts as long as three months in deep freezers. Otherwise, throw them out after two
weeks. Before serving it, thaw the milk quickly to avoid bacterial contamination. You can do
this by placing the plastic container in warm water. Never ever use the microwave. This
dangerous household equipment will certainly change the composition. You don’t want to
deprive your baby of your antibodies and vitamins, don’t you? Once thawed, shake it well
before feeding your baby. The one thing to remember is that you must try to protect your
    baby from bacteria.

Make Each Moment Count for you and you baby.

December 16, 2010 By Pilar Estefana

When you first bring home your little bundle of joy, you make plans for your baby. You look forward to so many things that practically plan out their whole lives for them. But then reality gets in the way. You find yourself having to go back to work and balancing your schedule just so you can spend time with your baby and fulfill your responsibilities outside the home. You wish you could be there for them all the time and you often find yourself counting the minutes until you get to see your little angel once more.

You will surely want to be with her most of the time, especially if this is your first time to be a parent.
Everything looks so new and wonderful that you would want to be there to enjoy every moment.

Newborns are fascinating to watch because no one else is as pure as they are. You want to hold them in
your arms and hold them for as longs as possible. Even while they are asleep, you enjoy looking at their
faces in a peaceful slumber. Those first few days are a magical time. But then you realize that your baby
has more needs than some cuddling. You need to be there for them every time they cry. This interrupts
your sleep as well. Babies cry whenever they need your attention. With some practice, you get to learn
what their needs will be based on the sound they make. The lack of sleep combined with stress can start
eating away that wonderful feeling you once had.

Nothing has really changed, at least not for your baby. They are still that same precious gift you brought
home from the hospital. You are probably the one that experienced the most difficulty with the
changes. You don’t have time during the day when both of you are fully awake, and when night comes,
you are too tired to do just about anything. But you can’t constantly moan about the difficulties you’re
experiencing. Every new mother goes through this trying stage. All you need to do is find the middle
ground so that you get to enjoy your blessings.

You need to stop that destructive train of thought. Get off at the station and go to a better destination!
You are headed to a path that brings you down, and if you don’t do anything about it, you could easily
lose the things you love most in life. You must get your life in control and be in the driver’s seat. Make
that choice right now and enjoy every stage of your baby’s life, no matter how difficult it is. After all, you
can never turn back the time. You should be there for your baby in every wonderful and significant
    moment in their life.

Give your baby unconditional love as they give you theirs. Enjoy their devotion right now because pretty
soon, they’ll grow up and crave for independence. This little miracle may be the biggest responsibility
you’ll ever have, but they can also be your greatest source of joy. Everything else is secondary.
