Answers To Your Most Pressing Pregnancy Questions

June 12, 2020 By Pilar Estefana

TIP! If your diet is generally nutritious, you can give into cravings without concern. The body craves what it needs, and it just may be trying to tell you something.

Many folks want to know what to expect when they first get pregnant. They will probably worry over their unborn baby’s health and safety, as well. The practical advice in the article below will allow you to give the best possible care to your baby and keep yourself in the best of health.

TIP! Follow your doctor’s appointments religiously. This will help you stay apprised of any issues that pop up, major or minor.

Meet with your doctor before deciding to have a baby. He or she can tell you about what changes you should make to have a healthy pregnancy. Learning to care better for your body is the best thing you can accomplish to have a healthier pregnancy.

TIP! A pregnant woman should avoid as much additional stress as humanly possible. Not only will stress cause a lot of different problems for the woman, but it could also cause stress to the baby.

Make sure to keep all doctors appointments so as to catch any potential situations earlier. These appoints are scheduled at certain times during the pregnancy so your doctor can view the progress of the fetus, and to also monitor your body. This will allow you to be sure that you and your baby are in the best shape.

TIP! Sunscreen and other sun related precautions are just as important during pregnancy as they were before. Pregnancy makes a woman’s skin more sensitive because of hormonal changes.

Make sure to protect your skin from the sun while pregnant. You should also stay away from tanning beds. Your skin may be more sensitive while you are pregnant, making sunburn or sunspots more likely. Be sure that your sunscreen is safe to use while pregnant.

TIP! If there are one or more cats in your home, refrain from cleaning the litter. Litter and cat feces are both harmful to a woman and her unborn child.

Maintaining an exercise routine that is safe for pregnant women is an important part of the healthy steps you should take during pregnancy. The benefits of exercise during pregnancy are numerous. You are less likely to miscarry. Your labor may be smoother and quicker. Also, you can get back to your pre-pregnancy weight more quickly, since you will still be in the habit of regular exercise.

TIP! If you suspect there is even the slightest chance you could be pregnant, you should immediately have a pregnancy test done or consult your doctor. The longer you wait, the more complications can arise.

Many moms-to-be aren’t fully sure of the best way to take care of themselves during pregnancy. As society gains more knowledge on the subject, what’s best practice tends to change. However, if you bring to bear the sensible advice in this article, you will have made a major contribution to your health, your baby’s health, and the enjoyment of your pregnancy.

Eating Right During Your Pregnancy

You already know it is important to eat a well-balanced diet, but it is even more important when you are pregnant. Keep in mind now you are eating for two. Whatever you eat, the baby eats as well. In fact, the baby actually takes your nourishments so you must eat enough for both of you. The healthier you eat the better it is for the pregnancy and you.

Never miss a meal while you are pregnant, especially breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and your baby has probably been waiting since he/she woke up in the middle of the night. You may learn that if you wait so long before eating you start to feel sick, this is your body telling you to eat. Do it!

Make sure you are getting enough of the food you need daily. It takes 4-6 servings of dairy a day for a healthy pregnancy, this can include some cheeses, milk, yogurt. This provides the baby with calcium which it’ll need to develop healthy growing bones. Adding extra calcium to your diet wouldn’t hurt you either, especially your teeth and bones.

Don’t forget about your fruit and vegetable servings. Lots of green is always a good choice, so are sweet potatoes. Not only will you be giving your body what it needs but you’ll start to have more energy. Try laying off the sweets for a week and replace them with healthier items and see how alive you feel.

Foods to Avoid
Not all foods are safe during your pregnancy, there are a few things you should avoid eating:

– unpasteurized products- brie

– Certain fish- exotic, shark, swordfish, anything high in mercury
– Raw eggs

– Undercooked meats- lunch meats. If you are buying a deli sandwich you can ask for them to eat the meat up a little.

– Caffeine- soda, chocolate. If you find this difficult you can wean yourself off, but the less caffeine in your system the better it is for the baby.

If you are ever unsure of the foods you can eat you can ask your doctor for a list of items to avoid during pregnancy. They’ll be more than happy to share this with you.

You may also learn that your stomach won’t handle certain foods that it would before. Some of those foods may include foods that contain grease, fast foods, meat, and certain foods that have a strong odor.

Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to cut out all the fun in your life, you can still treat yourself from time to time. Go out and get frozen yogurt or a smoothie.

While you are making sure you get enough to eat throughout the day, that doesn’t mean neglect your fluid intake. You’ll need lots of water and juices from here on out. The baby will thank you later. Who knows, you may discover that you really enjoy eating healthier and continue it even after the pregnancy.

Organic Natural Baby Products and Tips

December 2, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

Keeping your baby healthy and happy is easy to do when you use natural organic baby products that won’t irritate your baby’s skin or upset your baby’s tummy. When you wash your baby’s tiny clothes or let its little fingers wrap around its bottle, you want to rest assured that everything your baby comes in contact with is natural, and in this day and age, it’s easy to do if you’re mindful.

TIP! Try to avoid wearing your hair back in a ponytail too often. Even using soft scrunchies could cause stress to it which may result in breakage.

When doing laundry with your baby’s clothes, natural laundry detergents are really the way to go. Using detergents that say “free” usually means that they’re mostly natural, but if you still don’t trust that, there’s always homemade detergent as an option.

In order to make this detergent, you will need baking soda, borax, soap flakes, and essential oils (Lavender, orange, lemon, and grapefruit are great for laundry). Take 16 cups of baking soda, 12 cups of the borax, and 8 cups of the soap flakes and mix. Once they’re all mixed together, take 3 tablespoons of essential oils and mix with a wire whisk until everything is evenly distributed. Use 1 – 1 ¼ cup per load.

TIP! Avoid using heavy conditioners if your hair is fine or thin. They will only serve to weigh the hair down and make it appear thinner and finer.

Once your baby has started to eat solid foods, you want to make sure you go organic with those, too. You can also make this at home. There are many recipes for organic baby food. Sweet potato, pumpkin, avocado, and winter squash are all great ingredients for natural and nutritious meals.

To make organic sweet potato baby food, wash and poke holes in the sweet potatoes with a fork. Wrap the sweet potatoes in tin foil, but don’t peel them. Bake them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 30-60 minutes or until they become soft.

TIP! When drying your hair, make sure that you never pull and tug on your hair. Your hair strands are likely to stretch and break and it will dry frizzy.

After they’ve cooled down, remove the skin by cutting the potato vertically (lengthwise) and scoop out the meat of the potato. You can also add bits of other foods such as squash or apples to make it a full meal.

If your baby has not yet moved on to solids, there are many ways in which your baby can still eat organically. There’s formula now available that’s made with all-natural ingredients such as soy milk or goat’s milk.

TIP! For healthy, shiny hair, start with a healthy and nutritious diet. Your hair is living tissue, and it should be supplied with beneficial nutrients to ensure its growth.

However, the actual formula isn’t the only way your baby can eat naturally. There are now different types of bottles made from organic material. Glass and BPA free bottles are the way to go when searching for an all-natural way to feed your precious infant.

When doing the dreaded diaper change, there are also ways to stay organic and help the environment, too. Instead of using disposable diapers, try cloth! Did you know that your baby uses approximately 8-12 diapers per day alone?

TIP! Do not blow-dry your hair for too long. The heat from your blow dryer can damage your hair greatly, so attempt to dry it naturally.

When throwing them away, the amount of trash really adds up, not to mention the amount that it subtracts from your bank account. Using cloth diapers is no less sanitary than disposable diapers, contrary to popular belief.

There are also types of organic baby wipes that won’t be harsh to the soft skin of your baby’s bottom. Using organic baby wipes helps your baby feel cool and refreshed with the use of natural ingredients and they aren’t much more expensive than regular baby wipes. A box of organic baby wipes goes for $5-7, similar to regular baby wipes.

Natural Baby Clothes and Tips

December 2, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

Searching for natural baby clothes is easy as long as you know exactly what to look for. Your baby’s skin is very soft but also very prone to irritation and infection. When shopping for natural baby clothes, look for 100% organic or natural cotton.

TIP! Think about what you’re teaching your child. Children respect honesty and will be more apt to trust you.

Cotton is a fabric that can be very easily cleaned, making it great for newborns that spit up a lot. Cotton is also great for toddlers who are very messy – in other words, all toddlers!

There are many online boutiques now that sell specific organic baby clothing from hats right down to socks and shoes. Whether you’re in the sunny south or the frigid north, cotton clothing for the baby can be both breathable and cozy. There’s also organic Egyptian cotton, which is like a cloud to touch and won’t irritate the skin.

TIP! Clear off a space on the kitchen counter, lay your child back on a rolled towel, and run water from the faucet over the hair and scalp. This can make hair washing fun and reduce the fear of getting water in his eyes or poured over him.

Other natural baby clothing fabrics include wool or fiber from any animal coat – including sheep or llama. This type of fabric ensures warmth in the winter or early spring for your baby.

Wool clothing may be infamously itchy, but in today’s day and age, many clothing manufacturers have perfected the feeling of wool to be soft and cozy rather than itchy to the baby.

TIP! Stick with your child’s established eating and sleeping schedule as best you can when you are traveling with him or her. Traveling with young kids can be stressful for them, particularly when they are infants.

Wool also makes a great fabric for a baby blanket. Wool can be a little costly but is necessary if you live in a chilly area of the world. Most wool clothes range from $13-30 per item, depending on the brand.

Silk is a great natural fabric that comes from the cocoon of the silkworm. Silk baby clothes are much more affordable than wool but will cost you a bit more than just cotton. Natural silk baby clothes range in price from $10-20 for a sweater and $7-13 for a shirt. Silk is mostly found in baby blankets, but if you go to online boutiques that offer organic baby clothing, silk will be a hot-ticket item.

TIP! Even though it is important to spend plenty of time with your kids, take time to relax alone. Spending time on your own doing the things that you enjoy allows you to maintain your own sense of individuality.

Baby clothes made from linen are almost always 100% natural because the fabric itself is from a fiber called flax. Linen generally comes in neutral color tones like brown, beige, and white.

Linen is very inexpensive but very comfortable and for those of you who live in the sunny regions, linen is mostly light and airy. Linen dresses range from $15-20 in most online organic stores. When using linen (as a dress) in a cooler part of the world, pair it up with a wool sweater and some tights to make it more comfy and cozy.

Other super-organic baby clothes include those that are made with Hemp, Ramie, or Jute. The composition of hemp is very similar to that of linen, except for the fact that it’s a little warmer. Hemp fabric has been known to withstand water (or juice for that matter) better than any other textile product, but it wrinkles easily.

Natural Baby Care Tips

December 2, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

Once you have your much-awaited baby in your arms, you’ll feel like no harm can get between you and your baby. All you want is for your baby to be happy and healthy no matter what. Having a baby is easy, but there are some natural baby care tips that will help you continue to protect and nurture your little one.

TIP! See a doctor before you try to conceive. This will give you an opportunity to adjust your lifestyle to become the healthiest you can be and ensure a successful pregnancy.

Cloth diapers are a great natural alternative to piles of dirty diapers causing trash bag after trash bag to pile up. If you’re concerned that cloth diapers aren’t as sanitary as disposable ones, you’ll be delighted to find that they’re just as sanitary and are actually better for your baby.

To keep your cloth diapers clean and smelling fresh, follow these easy steps: Once you remove a soiled diaper, immediately place it in a designated diaper pail. Empty the diaper pail every other day in order to keep the stink at bay. Start with a cold rinse, and then do the actual washing in hot water.

TIP! Keep track of your menstrual cycles if you want to get pregnant. Learning your cycles will help you find out the optimum times for trying to become pregnant.

As far as detergent goes, only use a quarter of the amount recommended by the manufacturer so that your baby won’t be affected by any harsh chemicals. Do a second rinse in the warmest water possible. Some parents do an extra rinse just to be safe and then dry on warm. Whatever you do, don’t use harsh chemicals like bleach or stain remover. Fabric softeners (even dryer sheets) can potentially harm your baby.

If you’ve decided to breastfeed as an alternative choice for bottle feeding, good for you! Breastfeeding is all-natural and good for the baby and our planet. Not to mention it’s great for you and your body as well. Breastfeeding has a very basic but important benefits. While your baby is still only a few days old, breast milk provides your baby’s immune system with important protective antibodies.

It’s been medically noted that breast-fed babies are much more resistant to asthma, diabetes, ear infections, respiratory infections, skin rashes, even diarrhea and later on – obesity.

If you decide breastfeeding just isn’t right for you, that’s okay too! Many women tend to opt out of breastfeeding so that they can go back to work and so their partner will have just as much of an opportunity to feed the baby as they do.

TIP! Even pregnant women should be cautious and diligent about wearing sunblock during time spent in the harsh sunlight. A pregnant woman’s skin is often more sensitive, making sunburn more likely, which can lead to even more serious potential problems such as skin cancer.

Many companies provide natural brands of organic baby formula, such as soy formula. There are also different recipes for homemade formula. Before you try out the homemade formula on your baby, make sure your doctor says it’s okay.

To make a goat’s milk natural formula, take 12-13 ounces of liquid goat’s milk and mix it with 18-19 ounces of mountain spring water. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and mix. Warm it with hot water from the tap, but make sure the milk is warm – not hot.

Creating a Natural Baby Nursery and Tips

December 2, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

If you’re expecting a baby anytime soon, then you know better than anyone how exciting it is to create a nursery for your very own newborn. You have to debate with your spouse about picking the right color, the right bedding, the best toys, beautiful mobiles, and of course – creating the safest environment your baby can be in. Creating a natural baby nursery is simple to do and fun – you just need a few essentials.

TIP! If you are about to have a baby, do not go out and spend thousands of dollars on nursery equipment. You can purchase items cheaper at many department stores like Walmart, while sill getting high-quality furniture like cribs and changing tables.

First, consider the infamous color of the room. Whether you choose blue, green, yellow, or pink, you need to be careful with the paints that you choose. Many paints contain VOC, a chemical that can be harmful to your baby once the paint dries and the chemicals are released into the air.

Whether you go to a hardware store or a small paint shop, make sure you ask for paints that are either low in or have no VOCs in them. Also, when purchasing paint, ask someone to show you the low-odor paints so that you and whoever is painting the room with you won’t get sick.

TIP! You can have your child lay face-up on the counter with their head over the sink and a towel under their neck and let them have a small towel for their face and eyes. Many toddlers fear to have their hair rinsed by dunking their head underwater, so this method should take away some of that anxiety.

Getting the best crib for your child’s natural baby nursery is extremely important to you. You want them to be comfortable yet safe when they (finally!) sleep through the night. When choosing natural, look for cribs made with solid wood with low VOC finishes or paints.

Cribs made of laminated or pressed wood can secretly release formaldehyde into the air in your baby’s nursery. Formaldehyde is released from the type of glue that’s used in those types of cribs.

TIP! It’s a good idea to keep regular mealtime and bedtime routines for your children when traveling. Travel can seriously stress out children, especially very young children.

When settling on a diaper changing table, you’ll also want to choose natural since we all know how much time your baby will be spending on that very table. You want to try to stray away from furniture made with laminated or pressed wood.

Instead, you may want to consider purchasing unpainted wood furniture for your natural baby nursery. You can then paint it with all sorts of fun colors (even ones that match your décor). Using milk paint on the furniture is the best way to go if you want colors such as blue, yellow, or pink because it’s naturally VOC-free.

When using stains to color your changing table, use a low VOC stain because it’s much better for you. If you’re unsure of whether your already-bought paints or stain are low VOC, you can make it mostly low VOC for yourself. All you need it to is remove all of the packagings it came in and air out the paint or stain in a well-ventilated area but somewhere unfrequented or unoccupied.

Bestsellers in Natural Baby Gift Catalogs and Tips

December 2, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

Searching hard for those best-selling natural baby gifts? Look no further. There are many things necessary for the newborn and its family so it becomes hard to choose just one. With this list of bestsellers, you won’t have to play the guessing game – you can be confident in all of your choices.

TIP! If you are expecting a baby, spending lots of money on nursery furnishings is not necessary. Changing tables, cribs, and other baby furniture can all be purchased for relatively low prices at department stores.

Depending on the sex of the baby, you may want to do a themed collection of gifts or even a gift basket and many websites out there are usually able to lend a helping hand. If the sex of the baby is a surprise (even to the parents), then there are many unisex toys you can choose that are both natural and fun.

Wooden toys like rattlers are great for the newborn baby. Most wooden toys are made of maple wood. However, you still need to make sure that they are non-toxic and chemical-free. These kinds of toys come in all sorts of shapes. The baby will love black and white or bright colors. Simple shapes or a rubber ducky or a cute green frog can be the way to go.

TIP! Be honest when talking to your child, and be honest when they are around you. You want your children to know you can be trusted.

Teething toys made from 100% Natural Egyptian Cotton are best-selling natural baby toys and feel great for the infant. Almost anything made from 100% natural cotton will feel good against a baby’s soft skin.

Bath time for baby is said to be a very calming and happy experience. In order to make it the best and most natural, it can be for both baby and mom, buy a European style baby bathtub. These types of bathtubs are recommended by doctors and parents alike and have extremely high ratings and rave reviews.

TIP! Even though it is important to spend plenty of time with your kids, take time to relax alone. This maintains your individual identity, as well as your identity as a parent.

Purchasing natural and organic baby wash products will please both baby and mom. Make sure you choose shampoos and soaps that are free of any sulfate, dyes, fragrances, or any other artificial preservatives because those can pose a threat to the baby.

When choosing to bed for the baby, vinyl-free mattress and changing pads are your best bet. Baby blankets also make great gifts – mom and baby can’t get enough of them. When searching for natural blankets, get non-toxic, 100% organic cotton velour or organic cotton fleece. Some may have a natural silk trim along the sides and as long as it’s natural, it’s great for baby.

TIP! Parents should not pressure their teens to attend a college that the student isn’t interested in attending. Teenagers do not like being told what to do so they may choose the complete opposite out of spite.

Another bestseller in natural baby gift catalogs is the co-sleeping bolster. A bolster makes it so that the baby is safe and secure while sleeping in the same bed as mom or dad. Find a bolster that’s made of 100% natural rubber or latex and find one that comes with a soft cover so that the baby can be nice and warm.

If you’re the mother looking for best-selling natural baby products, make sure you put all of these items on your registry so that people will know that you want to go organic and as natural for that little angel of yours.

Most baby department stores carry all sorts of natural toys and blankets for you to choose from and if not, make a registry of your own and when people ask where you registered, just give them a copy!
