Evenflo Triumph LX Convertible Car Seat

September 11, 2011 By Pilar Estefana

This car seat has some nice features but not enough to override the bigger issues. Its very difficult to clean the seat, basically have to disassemble it, the cranks to tighten the belts are very difficult and awkward, not enough padding in the seat. Plus it’s not holding up well at all, it certainly won’t last long enough to outgrow. Check out my video!

how old and how tall is your daughter? The straps look really high. FYI when foward facing the straps need to be at or SLIGHTLY above the shoulder. Im not saying your using it incorrectly, but if your child is under 4 ( you said it wasnt gonna last till then)than she should probably be lower on the harness height. She might be that tall though. I dont know. Just curious. Good review!

Actually, it would be really really really rare for a child to make it to 4 in this seat, so she probably does need those strap slots. The Triumph is notorious for having a short shell, meaning it is outgrown quickly. My daughter had outgrown this seat rear-facing by 18 months, so I had to buy her a new seat. At 2.5 years she was too tall to forward-face in this seat. The new Evenflo Triumph Advance model has a much taller shell, plus higher weight limits (RF to 35 pounds, FF to 50).

well, yea I could see that. Ive never actually seen this seat in person so its my mistake for assuming that. Anyway, thanks for letting me know!

I have the same seat for my daughter and I love it. I even bought a new one after i flipped my car last summer with her in it. She didn’t even move during the accident. I am also getting one for my son.

I have had this carseat for 5 years and have used it for two kids and love it. It does not take 30 minutes to take the cover off, I took it off just yesterday to clean it and it took me just 5 minutes, and then 5 minutes to replace it, that was with my 3 year old “helping” me. Mine only has four screws and two clips, and was easy to rethread. I do agree with the padding under the bottom, but my three year old only complained on a very long journey after about 3 hours in the car.

I have the Triumph, I don’t think it’s the higher end model, but it has the same things like the tightening dial thing and the yellow thing to loosen the straps. I have to say my 2 yr old figured out how to unlatch the chest clip that holds the two shoulder belts to her chest…so that’s not cool. And yes, she has outgrown it in terms of weight (she’s 40 lbs). The straps are tight too, good luck getting kids in when they’ve got winter coats on! Good for little ones, not older toddlers.

Thanks for sharing with us. Can the sit’s angle be adjusted during driving/after sit has been installed, or I have to remove the saftebelt before re-adjusting the angle?

      Thanks!!
      Shay.

This is the Original Triumph. The Triumph Advance is different and has an Infinate Slide Harness. Removing and replace the cover can be done while the seat is installed, even rear facing. Much nicer then the Original Triumph, alot of the issues mentioned in the video were adressed and this new seat harnesses up to 35lbs rear facing and 50lbs forward facing with a seated height limit of 17″ (torso height)

I highly recommend a Graco Nautilus! Check it out! =) You and your children will LOVE it! AWESOME, AMAZING, WONDERFUL Carseat! You can use the 5pt harness until the child is 65 lbs!! =) and then it converts into a high back booster that you can use until the child is 100lbs!…. go get one! Youll be happy you did!

This seat has apparently changed A LOT. I have the “same” one and it is NOTHING like the one in the video. The height adjustment is on a sliding rail which is amazing, the cover is connected with only 4-6 plastic clips so it’s really really easy to remove. I love my car seat. My 30lb 20month old is still rear facing and we have NO problems. I highly reccommend this seat!!

Don’t listen to this video- it is very old!! We have the same carseat (apparently a newer version) for 3 years and LOVE it!! All of the issues she complains about are no longer problems- very comfy for my daughter, very easy to remove and clean, no broken parts in 3 years!! This is one of the top rated carseats on Consumer Report and I’ve read other reviews where this seat saved children’s lives. Check out Babys R Us reviews to see. GREAT CARSEAT- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!
