how old should a child be before you try this?
chocolytesprynkles says
you can try turning them over on their back and gently repetitively patting them on the back. keep doing it until they doze off. this really works. they taught it to us in one of my pre k classes
ponipalony says
just started doing this at 6 months old. its working so far..
mariferscearce says
Thank you so much for the advise. I watched your video last week and tried it withing a couple of days throughout the whole week. I had some restless nights, but guess what? My daughter, already one, is sleeping more throughout the night and does not expect a feeding several times a week and does not wake up screaming or demanding for us to go into the room to sooth her. She seems to have learned some patience. I believe we have almost reached our goal. I would give it maybe another week.

it’s called CIO FOR “CRY IT OUT”
bhailstone says
This is the Ferber method which is the standard Cry it Out method. It “works” for a lot of kids in that they stop crying and eventually do sleep which is nice for the parents; but psychologically speaking this is referred to as “Learned Helplessness”… meaning they learn that their cries mean nothing, so why bother.
deborahwa says
@epoladee Please answer this question. I would like to know as well. Is 2 months to soon to try these methods?
AJBiddle7 says
@deborahwa Usually they say at 3 months. “sleeping through the night” actually only = about 6 hours. It is essential to keep your milk supply that you don’t go longer than this, and that you wait past the 6 week mark before going longer than 3-4 hours at night. Check with your local La Leche League for tips- they’ve been most helpful!

This advice is nuts, will gave your baby major issues..
markskelly says
what a load of absolute rubbish……sounds like training an animal rather than caring for a baby.
FalseDisposition says
@bhailstone Oh that’s so sad! I’ll never do that to my baby
nieoceniona says
@bhailstone Well, you probably haven’t watched the video carefully – the woman in the video recomends that the baby didn’t fall asleep in your arms so it wasn’t surprised to wake up in another place – simple as that.
nieoceniona says
@nieoceniona commenting myself – well it came out I didn’t watch the vid carefully. Look for this article in google scholar: Cry It Out: The Potential Dangers of Leaving Your Baby to Cry

terrible. This is how you create insecure children.

My cousins baby goes to sleep at 1:00-1:45 A.M.,I’m assuming that’s very bad because his only a year and a half.
bajbugogo says
I don’t really like this method!!! That’s simply crying themselves to sleep and that’s horrible!
KisaToraChan says
don’t try this at all please x.x use dr. Harvey’s methods instead.
settlepetal101 says
This idea works well to help babies sleep providing there is no other issue preventing sleep, they are older than 4 months and it is not continued for any longer than 1 hour and is repeated for every sleep.
Krisiftw says
@bhailstone This isn’t true. They don’t think their cries mean nothing… they will still cry to indicate they’re hungry or hot or cold or that they’re in pain, but they won’t cry at night in hopes of Mommy or Daddy picking them up.

JUST DRUG THE DAMN BRAT!

meljaidanchase says
This is neglect. So sad that people leave their little babies to cry :( You shouldn’t have a baby if you aren’t going to support their development, and that includes emotional.
rachiibuu says
This makes me sick. Respond to your babies cues like a normal person!
