Info about – When Your Child Suffers from Skin Asthma.

Some children have more sensitive skin. They get rashes easily and when this happens, they may be more irritable than usual. It may be hard to keep them calm. After all, they will feel uncomfortable all throughout, and they won’t be able to do anything about it. Skin asthma, in particular, is a skin condition that has allergic features. It’s sometimes hereditary, but it not at all contagious. The rash is characterized by chronic inflammation of the skin as it appears red, flaky, with pinpoint raised spots, can sometimes be watery, and of course, it can be very itchy. In worst cases, scaling and thickening of the skin can happen. This causes unsightly skin appearance as it appears to peel off in dry layers.

Usually, skin asthma or atopic dermatitis is caused by reduced humidity and excessive sweating. This is more common during the summer. In fact, the condition visibly worsens during warm weather. Primarily genetic, skin asthma is caused by abnormal immune responses. Atopy occurs when the immune system incorrectly recognizes and attacks substances that should otherwise be harmless. And unlike skin allergies which usually just occur when the child is exposed to particular allergens, skin asthma can occur in mild or even no exposure to the usual irritants.

Do you want to be free of your allergy and asthma symptoms?

You can prevent this from happening through immunotherapy or allergy shots. This can build the body’s tolerance to common allergens and irritants. But most importantly, parents should be able to spot skin asthma early on to prevent it from worsening. This means taking precautionary measures such as staying clear of possible allergens or irritants, avoiding overheating and dryness in the home, keeping him in a cool environment, and fighting skin dryness by giving him frequent baths with mild soaps. Don’t forget to apply non-irritating moisturizers on a daily basis as well. But once the skin breaks out, apply a cool compress and oral anti-itch medicines that can help relieve the symptoms. Don’t allow your child to scratch his skin because this makes the lesions worse and may even lead to a secondary skin infection. Corticosteroids can treat inflamed skin areas but use these minimally and only with a prescription. The skin can get used to these medicines, requiring you to use a higher dosage when the condition does reoccur.

Children’s skin is more sensitive so it is best to go natural when choosing skincare products. Creams and lotions are a mix of oil and water. The former tends to be heavier or thicker in consistency because it contains more oil. Lotions can also contain preservatives, ph balancers, and thickeners. Some products that you’ll find in the market have add-ons such as vitamins and fragrances. While some of these may improve the way the lotion feels on your skin, none of them are actually quite necessary. When finding the perfect product, always talk to your doctor about what to buy. There are also health stores that specialize in baby care products. If you can find one near your home, always ask the salesperson which one has the most natural ingredients.
