The Specifications
This Lego set is for ages 6 to 12 and is made up of 669 individual Lego pieces. Assembly required for the set. The playset includes a 27-inch train made up of an engine car and two passenger cars which can hold up to 10 passengers. 3 figure is included with this set; one train conductor and two passengers.
Additionally, the set includes a traffic light and train station, as well as 32 track sections, 16 curved and 16 flexible. The train requires 9 AAA batteries (not included) and runs on a real motor, of the Lego patented Power Functioning parts. The train is controlled by an infrared remote control which can control 8 trains at once.
The Price
LEGO City Passenger Train 7938 Like most Lego sets, this one is a little pricy, at $184.00 per set. The price is somewhat justifiable due to the real motor and remote control electronics which are included in the set, and while this is more expensive than most Lego sets without such Power Functioning parts, it is slightly less expensive than the Lego Cargo Train set.
The price of Lego’s, in general, has been steadily increasing over the years, so the high price on this set is no surprise. But with some shopping around online, you are likely to find the settings for a reasonable or discounted price.
The Verdict
If you are in the market for a Lego train set or a gift for someone who would be interested in one, this is definitely a good buy. While it may be a little pricy, it is actually a little cheaper than other Power Functioning Lego Trains on the market. It is a great addition to any Lego City set, or just a fun play set on its own. Kids will enjoy hours of remotely controlling their trains, and it’s not a bad gift for model train collectors either.
