Reduce Your Stress As A New Parent Doesn’t Have To Be Hard. Read These Tips

December 1, 2019 By Pilar Estefana

Reduce Your Stress as a New Parent

When you’re a new mom or dad, you won’t do everything right. However, the pressure to be perfect can cause you to feel anxious and upset. It’s important to take steps to reduce your stress as a new parent. You will be healthier and happier – and so will your baby!

TIP! If you are expecting a little one soon, resist the temptation to spend all of your money on baby products. Changing tables, cribs, and other baby furniture can all be purchased for relatively low prices at department stores.

A new baby brings a lot of joy – but also brings a lot of new experiences that can cause stress. You’re not sleeping as much, you don’t have the independence you’re used to, and you’re still getting to know how to meet the needs of your little one. At this time it’s critical to reduce your stress in any way you can.

When you’re in a stressful situation surrounding your new baby, you may feel guilty for your emotions. You may feel like you shouldn’t have any unhappy feelings about your baby.

TIP! Clear off a space on the kitchen counter, lay your child back on a rolled towel, and run water from the faucet over the hair and scalp. If your child is afraid of having their head underwater or does not as water poured directly on their head, this will be making washing their hair much less stressful for everyone.

However, it’s natural and normal to feel stressed out. In fact, you should be more worried if you have no stress. In order to reduce your stress, you must let go of the guilt and deal with the problems that are causing those feelings.

When you’re trying to reduce your stress, it really helps to have a plan of action. The first thing you can do is make a list of all the things that are actually causing the stress.

TIP! If you’re traveling with your little one, maintain the mealtime and bedtime routines that you do at home. Travel takes its toll on young children, particularly infants.

For example, it could be that you’re only getting two hours of sleep at a time, that you haven’t been able to get out of the house as much as you’d like, or that you’re spending too much time trying to please friends and relatives.

Once you’ve identified the things that are triggering your stress, you can create a plan to reduce your stress. Take just one situation on the list and think of as many ways as possible to reduce the problem.

TIP! It actually helps a child’s development when you don’t focus only on the child, but also pursue interests or hobbies of your own. This helps you be yourself and a great parent too.

For example, if you’re not getting out of the house enough, you may be able to enlist the help of a friend or relative to babysit or go with you so you can have an extra helping hand on an outing. This way you can have your needs met and reduce your stress.

Asking for help may be very difficult – especially if you’re used to being independent and taking care of everything on your own. However, to reduce your stress it’s critical that you allow others to help you whenever possible.

But according to a new government study that shows the US teen birthrate falling dramatically in 2009 after a five percent increase from 2005 to 2007, experts say the network may have redeemed itself with its gritty “16 and Pregnant” documentary series, which many teens credit with opening their eyes to the consequences of unprotected sex and early parenthood. A report released Tuesday by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy shows that parental influence is the most-cited factor by teens when it comes to avoiding teen pregnancy. But the report also specifically cites the popular “16 and Pregnant” series, indicating that 82 percent of teens say the show helps them better understand the challenges of teen pregnancy and parenthood — and why they should avoid it. “Entertainment media is one of the nation’s favorite punching bags, but we have to acknowledge that when we’re talking about teen pregnancies media ..

What do you put or use in your baby’s hair?

I have a 9 month old son and after I wash his hair I put baby oil in it and then comb it and brush it. How often do you wash your baby’s hair? What types of things do you put in it? Thanks

  •  wash my 8 month old daughter’s hair about once a week and i use Hair Balm (a product by Carol’s Daughter). I usually give her like 6 random ponytails all over her head. i think it’s cute
  • I wash her hair once a week. I was her hair with Johnson and Johnson moisturizing shampoo. When doing her hair, I put in pink moisturizer. Doing the week I put braids in her hair because I don’t want her or any of the kids choking on her hair bows. On the weekend I put ponytails in her hair. I was using baby oil when she was younger, but now it’s doing nothing for her hair. Tinkerbell, I’m going to have to find the product you use. Is it making her hair grow? Where can I f
