I would love to crochet a couple of baby blankets for friends but I want the MOST soft yarn money can buy! I made a blanket out of Bernat LuLu yarn and love love loved it, but now that I have found it they discontinued this type of yarn :( So if you have worked with the Bernat LuLu and know the kind of soft I’m talking about, please let me know if you know of something similar. When I went to the Bernat website they directed me to the Bernat Bamboo…I would love to get people’s feed back on this yarn also. Thank you so much for your help!

I personally have not used Bernat Bamboo yarn. However, I have heard the following comments about it:
* nice sheen
* extremely soft and drapey
* splits & breaks easily
* can shed while knitting
Also, keep in mind that sometimes people have varying success depending on their gauge/tension.
Good luck & happy knitting!

That would make a great baby blanket. I’ve worked with it and its so nice and soft. I make hats and scarves with it. It comes in small skeins and is kinda expensive but Michael’s is having a good sale on yarns right now so check it out. There’s also another soft yarn, I can’t remember the name of it right now but I know its made by an Italian company (its even softer than the Bamboo). I got it at one of the giant Joann’s fabrics.

I have worked with it, and yes, it would make a wonderful baby blanket! It is SUPER soft, and shiny like silk. It does give you alot of fuzz, though. But it is a very cheep high-quality soft yarn. I’m kind of a yarn snob, so it takes alot to impress me with yarn, so I really don’t like all those novelty yarns. With most yarns that claim to be very soft and comfortable to wear, they get uncomfortable hot and sweaty, and they are hard to knit with. Bamboo is a natural fiber with the feel of the softest novelty yarn, and the sheen of the prettiest silk. And bernat is a very cheap brand that you can find at most craft stores like Micheal’s.
