Your Questions About Baby Swaddlers

Thomas asks…

What does the hospital give you after you have a baby?

Hi I wanted to know does the hospital send you home with anything after you have a baby there. Like formula or diapers. Reason why is because I didnt wanna buy any of those things yet cause Im not sure which would be best for my baby? If so what type of things do they send you home with?

Pilar Estefana answers:

It depends on the hospital. Mine didn’t send me home with much stuff. But usually you can take home the baby’s hospital blanket, hat, and sometimes a few diapers. I have found that Pampers Swaddlers diapers are great for a newborn.

George asks…

What should I put on my baby registry?

I’m trying to do my baby registry, and what are some must-have items, besides the basic stroller, bedding, etc.?

How many of each size diaper would you recommend for disposable diapers?

This is my first baby, so I don’t have a clue… I didn’t even realize babies needed so much stuff until I went to babies r us and got overwhelmed!

Pilar Estefana answers:

Richard asks…

What are the best diapers to pack to bring to the hospital for when my baby is born?

I just went for my hospital tour and the head nurse told me to bring diapers and pads because the hospital no longer supplies ANY. (Can you believe that?) It’s a brand new policy to save money. Yikes! Anyway, what should I buy? Can I just go to Costco and get the Huggies Size Ones, or will those be too big, should I get Pampers Swaddlers or some other kind of newborn diapers?

I’m almost 35 weeks pregnant.

Thank you very much! :)
She said, and I quote, “We will give you ONE pad right after you give birth, after you’re out of the birthing room, you have to supply your own.” I asked her what kind to buy and she said she wasn’t sure, “something big and absorbent.”

Pilar Estefana answers:

I love Pampers Swaddlers. That is what the hospital gave out. I’d even suggest the sensitive ones (there are Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive)…I don’t use them now…but they have this wetness indicator. Silly enough in the beginning I wasn’t sure when my son peed and when he didn’t. This let me know. And, they do want to know the # of wet diapers per day.

I use Target brand wipes. I started with Pampers…but I find the Target just as good if not better.

Lisa asks…

Is there much difference in the size of pampers swaddlers in a preemie and a newborn size?

I heard there wasn’t..So if I have a 4 or 5 lbs baby, would it make a difference if I just started out with newborn?

Pilar Estefana answers:

My daughter wasn’t even really a preemie, she was born at 37w6d, and was 6lbs 4oz. I thought the newborn ones were a pain to deal with, with the umbilical cord stump. I had to fold them over. So I figured I would try the Preemie ones, and they were great. I just got a pack of like 72, and then when I ran out, she was ready for the bigger ones! But yes, there is a difference, so if you think the newborn ones are too big, then definitely get a pack of the preemie, just don’t get a ton, then when the stump falls off, it doesn’t matter if they’re a little big!

Linda asks…

What are some good baby brands for formula and dipers?

well my dad said that some dipers suck and i wanna kno which 1s do and i dont want some bad formula goin in2 my babys mouth..would u? which do u prefer?

Pilar Estefana answers:

Well I personally find pampers swaddlers to be the best. They dont leak so much. When I was using Huggies they were just causing too many leaks and after an hour you can feel whole diaper being wet but thats just my experience. As for the formula, breast milk is always best but each baby takes formulas differently depending on their body and stomach sensitivity. If you plan on not breastfeeding at least do it for a day or two so that the baby can get the colostrum, which extremely healthy. I I started out breastfeeding and formula feeding my newborn at the same time and found similac to be too constipating, so I switched to Enfamil which I’m happy with. All depends on your baby. Good luck!
